Attention skinners! This is your official chance to lay your creative hands on someone else's Winamp skin without getting into trouble. Win some great prizes by remixing a skin that you think would look good with a blend of your own style. This contest will allow you to rip, clone, modify and tailor someone else's Winamp skin to create your own new interpretation.

These are the great prizes that are in store for the winners of our competition, worth a total of $600. The first-placed contestant will receive the brand new Creative® NOMAD® Jukebox Zen USB2.0 portable MP3 player with 60GB capacity, the second-placed contestant will receive the very cool Digital Media Remote from Keyspan®, and the third-placed contestant will receive the extensive Object Desktop CD package from Stardock®. In addition, the top five contestants will each receive two fabulous skin suite packs of their choice from Pixtudio.

The objective of this contest is to remix someone else's already existing Winamp 2.x skin. Most important is that you get permission by the author of the skin you would like to remix. The remixed skin must be WA2.9 compatible. You may NOT remix any of your own skins. Which aspects you wish to modify and to what extent is up to your own creativity, but keep in mind that the judges will be looking for a good and well-integrated balance of 1) the character/look of the original skin and 2) a strong creative influence from the remixer (you). Please read the complete set of rules carefully before remixing your skins.

We wanted to make sure that the people we selected for our judging panel were people who have shown that they are worthy of respect in the winamp2 skinning community - people with a keen sense of what makes a good winamp2 skin who will approach the entries with intelligence, experience, and fairness. Also, we felt it very important that our judging panel was comprised of people who represented a broad range of skinning styles and tastes. We think we've done well on both counts:

The first entries to be posted immediately have been submitted and others will hopefully follow soon. Public commenting and voting has been disabled for all entries until the contest deadline is over, in order to not influence judges and other contestants. After the deadline has been reached, all contest entries will be moved over to the regular skin database. Until then, contest entries will be posted here.
