dimichan is a well known regular to this site and even more so as she won first place in the recently held Winamp Skin Remix Contest. I had the chance to chat with dimichan about the contest, her entry, skinning in general, and what her life beholds beyond sitting in front of the PC.

1K1WS is proud to announce that the Winamp Skin Remix Contest results are in! There were 23 entries in total, and here are the 6 prize-winners (5th place was a tie!).

New "Remixed" Category

The new Remixed skin category is the new home for all entries from the Winamp Skin Remix Contest. The category is a permanent addition to this site and open for further submissions apart from the contest. A remixed skin is an alteration of someone else's already existing skin with a twist of your own style. A good remix consists of a well-integrated balance between the character/look of the original skin and a strong creative influence from the remixer. If you would like to remix someone else's skin, please contact the author of the original skin to get permission first! Remixing someone else's skin without permission is considered illegal ripping and not permitted on this site or any other skin site! Remixing someone else's skin can be fun and a unique challenge, as seen in the recent skin contest, so perhaps you might like to give it a try.

The Remix Contest deadline has been reached. Now, the entries will be judged, and the results revealed soon. All up, the contest produced over 20 entries - and I'm sure that choosing the winners will be very difficult indeed! Keep posted...

Contest Judges

The list of judges for the Winamp Skin Remix Contest is now complete. We wanted to make sure that the people we selected for our judging panel were people who have shown that they are worthy of respect in the Winamp2 skinning community - people with a keen sense of what makes a good Winamp2 skin who will approach the entries with intelligence, experience, and fairness. Also, we felt it very important that our judging panel was comprised of people who represented a broad range of skinning styles and tastes. We think we've done well on both counts.

The first entries to be posted immediately have been submitted and others will hopefully follow soon. Public commenting and voting has been disabled for all entries until the contest deadline is over, in order to not influence judges and other contestants. After the deadline has been reached, all contest entries will be moved over to the regular skin database. Until then, contest entries will be posted here.
