Decreaser is a very simple and effective tool to reduce the file-size of Winamp skins up to 20% without losing ANY quality. How is this possible you ask? Decreaser colors specific areas of main.bmp and eqmain.bmp with a solid color that are not use in the actual skin. These areas are placeholders for animated sliders and buttons which are seperately defined elsewhere. Keeping these areas in a solid color enables a far better ZIP compression which thus results in smaller file-sizes. The overall resolution of the skin stays unchanged. This tool is great for skinners having trouble getting their files under the size-limit used on this or other sites and also for those who don't wish to reduce the color depth of their truecolor skins. I was able to reduce metrix metal dream from 182 KB to 156 KB. That's a difference of 14%.
Revision: Decreaser can directly handle ZIP and WSZ files, extracting main.bmp and eqmain.bmp to a temp folder, editing them and placing them back into the original skin file. Make sure to save your own backup beforehand, as your old file(s) will be overwritten!
